Jenni and Bernice are powered up and ready to go! ThumpUp Red boots aside, Bernice is,BigGrin as always, ready for the task ahead.. Blink

I have some very bad news for the tassle gang. Zara is no longer going to be gracing the cover of a certain magazine, which we all wished to appear in, and , as we are all aware, the NOW will no longer be interested in out exploits as in the past. This is a serious situation and may require the use of cannonballs to show our displeasure. Sad Confused We are quite safe to do this at the moment as the powers that be are so busy trying to think just what to say next as they wriggle along that we should escape our usual incarceration. Razz This will be of great relief to some who missed their pernod, mascara and MTX last time we had a party. Blushing Blushing

Jean and Doreen will, as usual, misbehave but at least there will be no law in sight to arrest them. ThumpUp BigGrin Julie has permission to climb as there is nothing to stop her. Green flimsy at the ready.RollEyes

Kathleen and I will be relaxing on the deck during this trip as Lyn is still in rehab. My hair is all but back to normal so I will not be wearing my old tam o Shanter.Huh Wub

So me hearties, the Arc is ready for our long voyage (to Edinburgh) so when will we be leaving?ThumpUp BigGrin Smile Razz

Oh my goodness - what are we to do now that the News of The World has folded? They always seemed to have someone on hand to snap us. Maybe we will have to send Dor to do a deal with "Hello". We can invite them on board the AR on our maiden voyage. I'm sure that will make quite a splash, in more ways than one.

My outfit is being made by Alexander McQueen (a la Kate Moss) and I will give you details when it is finalised. It will be very "luffly pink" like Berny's new shoes and quite frilly and flouncy and I have asked Philip Treacey to make me a hat which looks like the AR. That'll get 'em talking.

It's a huge relief to hear that Lyn is still in rehab and even more so that Eleanor won't be wearing that tatty old tammy! Grubby old thing looked like a dead cat (not a talking cat, you understand, just a dead one!) Maybe we should ask "the knitter" to bring Jack along - he could chat to the guests as they arrive at the Kirk (provided he doesn't cock his leg on Dor's tea trolley)

Weather looks set for a good sail - torrential downpours and gale force winds. Bring it on!!

I think Doreen has already been in touch with "Hello," and received quite a favourable response, so we should get some coverage, and word will soon spread to all the "dailies."

I`m going to need some help to put up the bunting, so hope Julie will be one of the volunteers, as she loves climbing so much it should be a piece of cake. (as long as it`s not Eleanor`s cake!)

Nick has arranged for a piper to pipe us aboard, which should be good. Has everyone got their outfits ready? Jean has obviously decided on a nautical theme with her hat - I think I`ll stick with my lighthouse one, as it drew so much attention at William`s "do."I`ve got Neddy a tartan blanket we can drape over him as he goes aboard, and Doreen will be in charge of him, as he seems quite attached to her.I`m not sure about the talking dog - he should be OK as long as Julie hasn`t taught him how to swear.

I`m wearing a powder blue ensemble, with lots of ruffles and tiny hand-sewn anchors embossed on the front, in keeping with our nautical adventure.

The star turn of the day should be Sheila, who has been valiantly learning the steps to the Sailor`s Hornpipe, and she`s going to perform that once the cannons have ben fired.Jean, Doreen, Eleanor and myself are doing the sword-dance, and Jenni, Julie, Lyn (if she`s out of re-hab ) and the rest of the crew will be doing the Highland Fling. That should give all the newspapers plenty of material.

Best feet forward, girls!

I will be wearing my little pink tartan number, with the tasseled fascinator.

The sword dance could get quite hair raising with Lyn around! LOL LOL

Try not to worry too much about the sword dance - it looks so effective when it`s performed, and I`m sure if we practice hard we`ll manage to avoid any disasters : after all, we`re all very light on our feet, and we`ll be wearing those nice little Scottish shoes with the laces that go up the legs.

The swords will remain on the floor, out of Lyn`s way.Is she out of rehab yet?

I think we should be more worried about Sheila`s cannons - Eleanor and I have only just recovered our hearing after the last time she fired them. I hope she`ll manage the Sailor`s Hornpipe - there`s a lot of steps to remember.

Departure is only round the cornerHuh so to speak. I hope I can keep my sea legs, which are a bit shaky after practising the sailors' hornpipe for the last 48 hours. Don't fret, it is coming on a treat. Bad news about 'Hello' magazine but several other magazines have been in touch (never heard of any of them) so all is not lost. I have heard through the grapevine (you know how well in I am with Phil and Liz) that Zara wants to arrive at church on NeddyCool Now don't worry Doreen, he will be in good hands and it is only for one day. Who knows? He might even make the Burleigh Horse Trials (hope they have a sympathetic juryWub.) ..........I am a little concerned about Julie. I think she is getting bored with all the knitting as little bits of graffiti have started to appear on the bunting and I am not sure that it will go down well with HRH (By the way Julie I don't think you spell it like that.) Good news for Eleanor though, she has been asked to appear on Ready, Steady Bake but obviously she couldn't accept because she will be tied up (to the main mast) in August. She can however do a show in october, that's assuming she can get on an emergency cake decorating course in september and Jenni's highland fling needs a bit more practise. At the moment it looks more like a cross between dirty dancing and downhill skiing but there's time for improvement......... Jean, I have to say that your outfit sounds amazing,ThumpUp especially the little tartan frills down the sides of your wellies. You will look a real bobby dazzler[razz.]....... Now ladies, I am afraid I must end on a sad noteSad. At the weekend Captain Flint went missing. He has been so looking forward to the trip and I am at my wits end. I don't want to point the finger at anyone but..........Jean.....Is it you?

I have finally received planning permission for the extension to the wheeled commode!! Sadly, it can be only 6' wide and 10' long, or it may become a hazard to other road users. The menagerie will need sleeping/resting quarters and I think this will fit the bill perfectly. After all, we now have not only the snake and Neddy, but Jack as well. I am also fitting in a straw filled box, so we have somewhere to throw Eleanor when she is "sleeping it off".

Sheila - cooeee - are you there?

I'm anxious to find out if Cap'n Flint arrived home safely - you know what the Post Office is like these days. I put some budgy seed in there along with a water bottle but am concerned that he may have pecked his way out of the envelope and "homed" to the AR. Neddy, Jack and Mr Snake are already on board. If you can't locate him just shout and we'll form a search party. Not Eleanor, of course, as she has been making special cake batches all week and is completely out of it. Dor is on a homing snail hunt in the hope of getting on TV and earning a fast buck. Jenni is too busy learning to shimmy to the left and Kathleen is putting bunting on her lighthouse hat. Julie is far too busy knitting. Guess that leaves just a few of us as Lyn seems to be locked in rehab (thank goodness). I don't know whether you have driven past there recently, but the trees and bushes in the garden are a very peculiar shape. Wouldn't you think they'd confiscate her scissors? Do let me know, Sheila, as I am getting concerned about the little chap!

I've now papered the extended wheeled commode and boy, does it look good. I really didn't think I could paint "tartan" but it's a triumph. Am now decorating Dor's tea trolley in similar fashion and even I'm impressed with sequinned tartan.

You've all gone so quiet I'm wondering if you've set sail without me

We`re all in silent awe at your efforts with the commode!

You`ll be pleased to know that Sheila`s Sailor`s Hornpipe is coming along just fine - now that she knows it`s actually a solo dance, and she won`t be dancing with a sailor. Duh!

I`m seriously worried about Eleanor, as she`s quite "high" from all the cake-making - why she has to sample each one I really don`t know. Doreen was down there yesterday, hunting for snails, and the pair of them were completely out of it.

Not long now until we set sail - keep practicing those steps, ladies!

Oh the shame of it. The two of them snail hunting. Please tell me they weren't wearing the safari suits and wellies again, and carrying the blunderbuss and an old bucket? I was mortified when I saw picture of them last time in The Daily Star. That was bad enough - hunting for budgy seed indeed - but hunting for snails? We'll never live this down. I don't know whether you know, but Dor was hunting for sharks in a rubber dinghy off the AR last week. She really thought a piece of string and a worm would do the trick. Silly woman! Glad you have your ear to the ground, so to speak, and have heard that Sheila is perfecting the Sailor's Hornpipe. Do you happen to know whether Jenni is still shimmying to the left?

Thanks Jean for sending Captain Flint back. Sorry I didn't let you know earlier today but I have been out practising with the cannonRazz . Fortunately I am in Dartmouth at the moment, near the Naval College. I had just managed a 20 gun salute when the last ball got stuck. Could I get it out? No! Then who should come along but 5 hunky sailors on their way back to college. They soon sorted me outLove and I thanked them by inviting them to the 'launch party' I didn't think any of you would mind. Now obviously Jean you have been interferring with my parrot. Every time I say no to more food he says "Jean let me, Jean let me." I think you have been giving him Eleanor's cakes he has definitely put on weight. I have got him doing the sailors' hornpipe at the moment....oops! He's just been sick on my shoulderHuh . Julie, I think you should apologise to Kathleen, she hasn't noticed the grafitti on the bunting and is still trimming her hat with it. Oh! There goes Jenni shimmering past the window. Will someone please tell her she can go right as well as left. She's three miles from home nowRollEyes and you will never catch snails like that Doreen, remember you have to talk to them. They're only human!!!

Oooh, hunky sailors!! Yes please - they can definitely come aboard!! All the nice girls love a sailor.......................

Now I have some news for you all - it`s been reported that the soon-to-be-newly-weds are having a very big pre-wedding bash on the former Royal yacht, Brittania, now berthed at Leith. We can all go to that I reckon, as Julie has used her "connections" to secure us invites. Everybody who is anybody will be there - including lots of the groom`s hunky rugby mates. I reckon it will be quite a scrum!!!!!!!!!!! Are we all going, ladies?

Jean - I don`t know what we are to do about Eleanor and Doreen. They were indeed wearing the safari suits, complete with hats, and their wellies. They`ve been busy "christening" all the snails they could find - you know how they are after a few glasses of Pernod - and creeping about shouting the snails` names. There`s obviously one called Peregrine, as Doreen hunted everywhere for him (if indeed it is a he - how does she know??!!) Last I heard some worried neighbour had called the RSPCA.

Jenni`s shimmy is improving, but she will need to lean a bit more to the right, as she`s definitely listing a bit towards starboard, and we`re a bit short of lifebelts.

Oh Amanda - am I glad to see you! We have missed the wine and the cabbage leaves SO much. Hope you are teaching Grace to shimmy to the left so she will be able to join Berny! And please don't tell me we've now got 2 snakes!! That means Neddy, Cap'n Flint, Jack the talking dog and 2 snakes. Maybe our little boat is aptly named the "Arc" Royal?

Welcome back Amanda. So glad you have sorted the life jackets. I hope you remembered to paint the Prince of Wales feathers on them all - you know how touchy he is!Scared Are you sure there will be enough cabbage left after the Royal Wedding reception? Well ladies, I have at last picked up my outfit for saturday. I don't know why it took them so long. It isn't as though I asked for something unusual. Anyway the kilt looks stunning (so glad I asked them to add shocking pink at the last minute. It works really well with the orange.) Just having a problem with the feet, of course, but once the capercaillie feathers are attached no-one will notice they are slippers. The gloves Julie has knitted finish of the outfit perfectly. I am very excited nowTongue . Eleanor has given me a haggis to toss when they come out of church and Captain Flint looks lovely in his little sailor suit. I hope you are all ready especially Kathleen. It is taking her ages to remove that grafitti. Are you coming on the commode Jean or is Doreen picking you up on the trolley? As for Jenni, she hasn't been spotted for 24 hours.

Well Jenni has still not come to terms with the left shimmy! Sad Last seen heading for Wales and, if she continues like this, will miss the launch party as well as cast off! ThumbDown Confused

I am so excited about going to Leith. Will we be able to tour the docks? Lots of nice sailors I do believe. Tongue Razz

The party should be great fun. I will be wearing one of Amanda's creations. Wub I see that cabbage leaves are so in vogue, especially when sequined! Can you make me some dainty cabbage leafed bootees as well Amanda as I do like to be co-ordinated. ThumpUp

Sadly, I must insist that Amanda should not be in charge of the beverages. Last time we were on an adventure, I required a little pernod, for medicinal reasons you understand (the cake was finished) only to find that she had allowed that Doreen and Jean it for that darned Neddy. Blink Huh I believe that Sheila may be better suited to this honour as I do believe that she may have medical qualifications in this area being a regular at the Flying Cannonball on Saturday nights.ThumpUp Confused

As for the outdoor pursuits of Doreen and I, you will all be surprised to know that we are in next month's Natural History magazine, as we have proven that snails are homing creatures. We painted stripes on their shells and sent them far from home: they slowly returned (actually flew home when a neighbour chucked them over the fence in amazement when she noted their blue stripes) to their starting point. Scared There is also talk of a spot on the sofa with Lorraine after our return from Edinburgh. ThumpUp

I am so glad that Lyn is making herself useful in rehab. Smile Last I heard, they want her to stay indefinately until at least all the shrubs, trees and grasses are all cut back. They are also considering community service by hiring her out to the city Parks department. Laugh Love

Sheils does seem to be getting to grips with the cannonball and the salute. I am a bit concerned that there may be problems if she competes with the one oclock gun from the castle.Wub
